Full Lake Mburo Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Drive Lake Mburo National Park, do a Boat Ride
Get a morning breakfast and start your trip to Lake Mburo National park, going through Mpigi and Masaka and Lyantonde district . Along the way in Mpigi, you may make a stop at Mpambire see well-made traditional drums and other local musical instruments, move on and stop briefly at Uganda Equator where handicraft is also in plenty. After that, head straight to Lake Mburo National Park.
Lake Mburo is one of the smallest Savannah parks with plenty of antelopes including the impala from which the name Kampala, Uganda’s capital city was got. Arrive in the afternoon and immediately head for a boat ride on Lake Mburo. This ride will reward you with view of animals and birds along shores. Dinner and overnight at Mburo Safari Lodge or Rwakobo Rock Hotel on full board.
Day 2: Morning Game Drive, transfer to Bwindi National Park
Go for game drive in Lake Mburo in the morning, lasting about 2-3 hours, return to the lodge for breakfast followed by drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You arrive in Bwindi in the evening and you may possibly go for a community walk where you will be entertained in some of the cultural dances of the community. Bwindi is mostly known for its plenty of gorillas besides being a home for other animals and plenty of birds. Dinner and overnight at Buhoma Community Bandas or Gorilla Safari Resort.
Day 3: Do Gorilla Trekking Safari in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
This is the day for the gorilla tour. Enjoy your breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters for briefing before setting off to the forest for a thrilling gorilla tracking in the forest. After an 8:00 am briefing from the park officials, you will walk into the forest to track these giant apes. The time you will take tracking or trekking these human-like apes ranges between 2-9 hours depending on their movements on that day. The gorilla trekking Tour entails going through steep rocks climbing up and down making it tiresome, however the thrill of meeting these primates make you forget the hardships of trying to find them. Dinner and over night at Gorilla Resort / Buhoma homestead.
Day 4: Drive to Kampala
In the morning, take breakfast and start a long-day drive to Kampala. Arrive in the evening. End of the tour.
