Gorilla Tracking in Mgahinga National Park
Gorilla Tracking in Mgahinga National Park in the major safari activity done in the park. The park is found in south-western Uganda in Kisoro district. A 3 days gorilla safari in Mgahinga usually starts from Kampala to the park and back. Alternatively, other gorilla tours to the park in a one day, two days or three days gorilla tour may as well begin from Kigali in Rwanda. In fact, it is shorter to transfer from Kigali to Mgahinga than to drive from Kampala to the same destination. With only 33.7 square kilometres, the gorilla habitat is also the smallest National Park in Uganda.
The park has only one habituated gorilla group, the Nyakagezi Gorilla Family. Its gorilla are known to look healthy as the park has lots of vegetation for feeding on. A gorilla permit to track gorillas in Mgahinga is at $600 only. We can secure a permit for you from the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), the only government reservation body for all the national parks in Uganda.
When going for gorilla tracking in Mgahinga, we recommend that you stay a night in Kisoro town. The town is very close to the park.
