Mihingo Lodge

Mihingo Lodge is a peaceful and exclusive retreat adjacent to lake Mburo. It has got  a stunning location on the edge of a rock kopje, with sweeping views of Lake Mburo National Park and the surrounding valley, it has spectacular views over a vast savannah landscape.  Designed to blend in with its fragile surroundings, this environmentally friendly lodge offers comfort, relaxation and the experience of being at one with nature.

The lodge consists of 10 private and comfortable tents on wooden platforms under thatch roofs, all with en suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water, showers and flushing toilets. The main dining area is a large thatched structure built of rocks, the wood of dead weathered olive trees found on the land and native grasses.

There is also an infinity pool that stretches out from the rocks and seems to disappear into the vast landscape beyond and it oversees the valley below where you can see buffalo, eland, impala, warthogs, bush buck and zebra can be seen at the pond.  On the rocks you may have the infrequent chance of viewing the resident family of Klipspringers. It’s not a must that you will see a leopard, but on a night game drive you do have a good chance. There is also a tennis court if you want something different to the safari activities. Game-viewing will mostly take place with your driver-guide, but there are other options which you can pay locally for – boat trips on the lake, walking safaris, and night drives, mountain-biking and horse-riding.

The welcoming well trained staff will help you to organize for you activities obtainable at the nearby Lake Mburo National Park. Enjoy game drives, boat trips on the lake and a diversity of early morning game walks, including a walk through the Rubanga Forest, with its abundant birdlife. Mihingo Lodge supports the local community by training and employing local people. The lodge also feels strongly about conservation, and therefore constructions are built in such a way as to ensure least influence on the environment.
