Mkomazi National Park is arranged in North Eastern Tanzania on the Kenyan Border, in Kilimanjaro Region and Tanga Region. It was set up as a Game Reserve in 1951 and climbed to National Park in 2006.
The Park covers more than 3,200 km² and is charged by Acacia-Commiphora vegetation; it is coterminous with Kenya’s Tsavo West National Park. The region typically called “Mkomazi” is truly the union of two past Game Reserves, the Umba Game Reserve in the east (in Lushoto District, Tanga Region) and the Mkomazi Game Reserve in the West (in Same District, Kilimanjaro Region); in government records they are from time to time called the Mkomazi/Umba Game Reserves. Of the two, Mkomazi is greater, and has more different characteristics of easing and living space, and a more attracted out granted periphery to Tsavo West National Park. In whatever is left of this segment “Mkomazi” will insinuate both the Mkomazi and Umba Reserves together.
