Uganda Tourist Activities – Things to Do in Uganda

Uganda Tourist Activities or Things to Do in Uganda are several given the country’s many tourist attractions. Uganda, the Pearl of Africa is bless 10 national parks, several game and wildlife reserves, water bodies like lakes, rivers and falls plus cultural places and forest. Tourism Activities in National Park 

Gorilla Trekking, Chimpanzee Safaris and other Primate Watch Safaris 

Gorilla Trekking is the first on the list of tourism activities in Uganda. Tracking of mountain gorillas is done both in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga National Park. The two are the parks in Uganda where these giant primates are found. Besides gorilla tours, Golden Monkey Trekking is also done at Mgahinga Forest. In the class of primates, chimpanzee tracking safaris follow in the line with main tours being done in Kibale Forest. Tourists in Uganda are also able to see chimps at Ngamba Island in Lake Victoria and Budongo Forest in Murchison Falls. Other Chimpanzee safari places are Kyambura Gorge in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kalinzu Forest Reserve near the same park and at the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) in Entebbe where the primates live under confinement.

Sport Fishing, 
With one-third of the country covered by water, Uganda is a perfect sport fishing destination; it is majorly done on Lake Victoria and Murchison Falls National Park. Additional fish species include Rastrinabola, Protopterus, cat-fish, and lung fish, Tiger fish, Ngara (Genus alestes), ferocious fighter and barbel among others. The delicacy of these fish species is excellent while catching a Nile perch weighing over 200 kg is incredible. Other fish one can grab consist of. Murchison Falls National Park Sport Fishing is done at the foot of the falls, with targeted fish coming from the rocks on the bank of the river or slightly lower downstream in the pools from a boat. Access to the fishing spots is either by boat from a point further downstream or by walking down the gorge to the river from the top of the falls. It is a sharp climb back up and thus most people tend to go fishing equipped for the day to avoid climbing up in the heat of the day.

Whitewater Rafting, 
Whitewater rafting is a recreational outdoor activity using a hot-air balloon raft to navigate a river or other bodies of water. This is usually done on white water or different degrees of rough water, to create joy and excitement among the raft passengers. In Uganda, this exercise is very common on the running River Nile waters.
